"Every 40 Seconds" # Time2talk: Breaking the Silence
A report by The World Health Organization released stated that at least 800,000 people every year commit suicide. That averages to be one death "Every 40 seconds." We are a brother and sister team who have a passion to begin an open conversation about the what, where, why, and how of preteen/teen suicide.
We want to challenge ourselves and fellowpreteens/teens to end the fear and shame that keep us silent about suicide. We want to address suicide and suicide prevention and what that would look like in the real world with our friends and family members. Without acknowledging the reality of suicide, we can’t work toward preventing it. We want to find help, hope, and healing through an open conversation that breaks the silence and frees us to acknowledge that it is real and happening and we all can do something.
